Our commitment to privacy
ClassNotes Inc. collects only the information we need to operate the website and Android app, create accounts, process purchases, respond to support requests, and improve the learning experience. We do not publish personal information unless you intentionally submit it for a public feature.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use ClassNotes, we may collect your name, email address, account credentials, class level, country, billing or shipping details, order history, support messages, and usage signals such as page views or learning progress.
In the Android app, account features can use profile details such as your username, phone number, class, country, and avatar. Study features can save bookmarks, quiz answers, learning progress, XP, and achievements. Tutor features can use profile and listing details, a photo or CV you choose to upload, contact requests, messages, and related notifications. The app stores a sign-in token on your device to authenticate account requests to the ClassNotes API.
How we use information
We use personal information to authenticate accounts, deliver paid features, process orders, answer support requests, send service messages, prevent abuse, understand what content is useful, and maintain the security of the platform.
Analytics, cookies, and advertising
ClassNotes uses cookies and similar technologies for essential functionality, analytics, and where applicable, advertising. This may include tools such as Google Analytics or Google AdSense. See our Cookie Policy for more detail on categories of cookies and browser controls.
Embedded videos and documents
Some educational posts in the Android app include YouTube video or Google Drive document previews. Opening a post with one of these previews loads Google's viewer; you choose whether to play the video or use the file viewer. Google receives the network request and may use your IP address to estimate an approximate location, use cookies or similar device and browser identifiers, and record preview, playback, and file-viewer interactions. When we share information
We may share information with service providers that help us host the site, process payments, deliver support, measure performance, or comply with legal obligations. We do not sell personal information as a standalone data product.
Digital purchases made in the Android app use Google Play Billing. Google Play handles checkout; ClassNotes uses purchase records and status to verify access and maintain entitlements. See Google Play's privacy information for its handling of payment data.
Data retention and security
We keep information for as long as needed to operate the service, comply with law, resolve disputes, and protect the platform. We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, but no internet service can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure.
We review account deletion requests before completing them. If an account has active paid access or an unresolved purchase, order, refund, return, payout, or dispute, staff must resolve that case before the account and its associated data are deleted. Requesting deletion does not cancel a Google Play subscription or automatically issue a refund.
After account deletion is completed, a closed transaction may require a limited pseudonymous financial record. We keep that record for six calendar months from the account deletion date and schedule its automatic removal afterward. Restricted records can include transaction markers, status, amount, currency, and dates needed to prevent purchase reuse and reconcile closed transactions. They do not include your name, email address, phone number, billing or shipping details, raw purchase tokens, or direct account ID.
Your choices
You can contact us to update account details or ask privacy questions. To request account and associated data deletion from a browser, visit Delete your account. A submitted request is reviewed and is not immediate deletion. You can also manage cookies through your browser settings.
